Movie title logo

Here are some movie title logos i have designed for Happening Upon Luna. I tried to use lots of different styles, fonts and colours to see the different options I have. I am going to show my designs to some peers and friends who are all in the target audience age range and get audience feedback on what one I should either use or take on for further development until I get a final product. I tried including some colour in all of the designs that I designed

Movie Script

Tessa:
(Curiously) "Are you going to the meeting for the documentary competition thing later?"

Tessa's friend Louise:
(disgusted) "Why would I? Does it look like something someone like me would do?"

Dr May:
(Sarcastically) "Wow small crowd. Well yeah a competition
you know about, 6 weeks to complete, blah blah blah... Okay, cya!"
(quickly) "Oh by the way, you can't submit the work with less than two people per group."

Tessa:
(quietly) "hmm. (pause) I guess it's just us then..."

Tessa:
"Why did you enter?"

Luna:
(monotone/embarrassed) "Got nothing else better to do."

(montage)

Tessa:
(monotone) "Have you ever been so oblivious to some people who make you happy?"

Tessa:
(monotone) "And they disappoint you?"

Jamie:
(confused/sassy)to Luna "Who's this?"
Tessa: "I'm Tessa. I'm working with Luna for the competition."

Tessa:
(argumentatively/loud angry tone) "I thought you were becoming a better person!"

Luna:
(sassy tone) "Well at least my old friends don't try and change me like i'm incapable of being myself!"

Tessa:
(monotone) "Then I guess sometimes they can surprise you, and that's what friends are for."

Props and character styles

Luna:

here is the make-up style that Luna, the protagonist will be wearing throughout the trailer. It is quite bold due to the thick winged eye-liner and this helps immediately differentiate Luna from the other characters make up wise. Her make up will stay the same throughout the trailer.

Here is the type of clothing that Luna will be wearing throughout the trailer. She will be wearing a mixture of different styles of clothing that bland to create a new unique style compared to the other characters in the trailer.

Luna's hair will be long and dark. It was important to find someone who had long dark hair as it gives a really good contrast to Tessa, who will be blonde. This correlates to the binary opposites and helps the audience easily see the differences between them.

Tessa's make up is more stereotypical to the type of character she is portrayed to be at the start of the trailer. The make up gives the audience the impression that she is another 'popular' type girl at school.

Her clothing is sporty/casual and this helps show a clear difference between her and Luna. It was important that we used very different styles of clothing for both of the characters so it shows how they are completely different people.

Jamie has a style more similar to Luna, hence the fact that they were once best friends, however it is still different to Luna's. Jamie has short ginger hair and lighter make up than Luna. Her style is also much more grunge compared to Lunas, so more dark colours are going to be incorporated in her outfits. This will also portray negative semantic elements, as she will look darker than Luna or Tessa, and this is because she is the villain in it.

Movie title logo design

Here are four examples of existing movie logos from films with narratives similar to my genre. The Ghost world logo has a lighthearted font with lettering different shapes and sizes throughout. However the boldness and the black do make is still readable.
For the Grand Budapest hotel logo, all the words are in the same font but they differ in size and curvature. This keeps the font readable but it still doesn't look boring and the same. The font is old fashioned an in serif style which helps portray the style of film better. larger words to show more importance than the smaller words and this gives the overall logo some shape rather than just having the same size and shape font throughout.
The Adventureland logo fits with the carnival theme of the movie as the movie is set in an American theme park. The colour is pale but it is still readable due to the blue shadowing behind the lettering.  In the Scott Pilgrim logo, the font is an old fashioned American one and and, similar to the Grand Budapest Hotel logo, the words differ in size depending on what they want the reader to see first at first glance. 'Scott' and 'Pilgrim' are the most importance words in this logo so they are the biggest font and they are also a different colour from 'vs the world' to further differentiate it to 'Scott Pilgrim.' What I like in the Scott Pilgrim logo that I can take on to help me create my logo is the italics and the shaping of the logo. The font is really bold and close together which makes the fact that the name of the movie is long, its still quick and easy to read. This will help because 'Happening upon Luna' is also quite a long name for a movie, so I will make sure to keep this in mind when designing my logo on Scetch.

Actors contracts and location release forms

Before I can begin filming, I  must make sure I have official permission from actors to partake in my trailer. I also have a location release form signed by the film producers that grants and ensures actors access to the locations that we are planning to use for filming. The actors contract also specifies that any actors involved know what they are signing up to do, and that states that they are not getting paid for any of the filming they are to be involved in.

Location Plan for shooting

Here are the locations that filming will take place. Most of these are outdoor, public places so that gives us an advantage as we will have more time to film once we have sorted out the schedule.

Sutton Park (Town Gate)

New Hall Park

Plantsbrook School

Birmingham Cathedral

Fairfax School

Beth's House

My House (bedroom)

Rectory Park

Risk assessment

Possible risks

Sutton, Rectory and New Hall Park: there are not that many major problems when it comes to risk assessment in public areas. There is the problem with having the camera and tripod in the park so extra care will need to be taken when carrying and using the equipment, especially when it comes to putting the tripod on the ground, so we will need to make sure the ground is level so it is stable and there is no chance of the camera falling. There is also the problems with other people being in the parks at the same time, we will need to make sure it is not too busy in the park or find a different section to make sure it is safe to film.

How I am going to Minimise these risks

To minimise these risks we will be going to the public parks during the quietest times to avoid people being in it in the background.  We will make sure that we check the weather when going to certain places. This is because I have set the narrative during the school summer holidays so the weather can't be that bad as it won't portray summer very well. It will also help in terms of keeping the equipment as safe as possible. Heavy rain poses as a risk to the camera so making sure we check the weather will minimise this risk greatly. Another way I am going to minimise risks is making sure the environment is safe when we are filming inside peoples house. I will make sure there are no risks of anything like tripping up before hand so that these risks are minimised during filming.

Movie pitch audience feedback

After uploading my movie pitch youtube, I then needed to get audience feedback on it. I asked some of my friends to watch it and give me their responses. From the audience feedback I have found out that there is no major problems with the narrative and the characters are good. I needed to explain the character profiles a bit more as it was unclear as to who was who in it. The binary opposites should have been explained in further detail as this is a very important part of the narrative.
